About Dandenong Ranges Tree Removal

This site is for homeowners in the Dandenong Ranges and foothills with a tree that needs dealing with. It sets out the planning rules suburb by suburb and passes quote requests to a local arborist.

We connect you with a local arborist who works in the hills.

Who does the work

We aren't arborists, and we don't do the tree work. A quote request sent through this site goes to a local arborist who works in the hills, and they ring you back about the job.

Where the rules come from

The permit rules on these pages are taken from the planning schemes themselves, the text each council decides permits under, not from summaries of them. Each section ends with the sources it was checked against and the date.

Planning schemes change. The state's canopy-tree rule, for one, was rewritten on 24 September 2026. If a checked date looks old, your property report and the council have the current word.

The local facts on the suburb pages, such as history and landmarks, come from the suburb's Wikipedia article. The overlay counts come from the state's planning maps, sampled at points across each suburb. Both are named where they are used.

What this site isn't

  • It isn't the council, and it can't grant or refuse a permit.
  • It isn't a directory or a quote marketplace. Your request goes to a local arborist, not to several businesses at once.
  • It isn't legal advice. Where a page says a rule applies, your property report and the council have the last word.

If something is wrong

An email address for corrections is still being set up. When it is, a wrong rule reported there gets fixed and rechecked, and the section's checked date changes with it.

What happens to the details you send is on the privacy page.

Tell us where you are and what needs doing. We pass it to a local arborist who works in the hills. They ring you back to talk about the job.

What's the job?

How tall the tree is, how close to the house, or whether you can get a truck in.

A photo of the whole tree and one of what's around it help with the quote.

Your name, number, what you write and your photos reach us by email and go on to a local arborist who works in the hills, and to no one else. We keep a note that a request came in, with the time, the page, the suburb and the job, so we can count them. Privacy.
